Updating My Profile!
Adding an Avatar, Cover photo and some bio helps other Members to identify you when you are posting or commenting! An attractive bio will also help other Members engage with you through shared interests! All the appropriate settings are available by clicking on your account Avatar top-right or from the widget that appears in the left sidebar of your Timeline! You will have an option to crop the Avatar once uploaded. The Cover image is automatically cropped and if you can, upload an image that is pre-cropped and of a size of at least 1920x280px.
Posting Images!
Most image formats such as jpg and png are supported and are compressed during uploading to reduce their file size but not in a way that loses noticeable quality! You can batch together photographs to form a mini album which when clicked will expand into an attractive ‘lightbox’. Don’t forget to add your post text when you are adding photos otherwise you will have to add it in a subsequent post! Or you could delete the post and start again. At the moment it isn’t possible to edit a post once published but that may come in future development!
Posting Video Content!
Please upload your video to platforms like YouTube or Vimeo and post the URL Link. The video preview will fill the posting box once posted! Similarly, you can add URL links to most external sources.
Notifications!
Some Notifications will appear as a Banner in your Browser! They will also be delivered via email which you can customise in your Profile! Additionally, when you are logged in, a series of Badges will appear in the Notifications Menu on Desktop and Mobile!
Groups!
Groups are a great way of pulling together posts of a given subject matter! Anyone can start a Group which can have three different Membership settings; Public, Hidden and Private. (Note Public means that any Member can join without an Invite. It does not mean that it is available to the General Public as all content in FriendsLive can only be viewed by Members! If you would like to suggest a new Group rather than start your own, just make the suggestion either as a post or via the Contact form!
Note that if you post directly in the Activity Stream and want it to appear in a specific Group, there is a dropdown Menu in the posting box! Also any post made in a Public Group will also appear in the Activity Stream!
Mentions!
Just as in other Social Media platforms, you can draw your Friend’s attention to your post by ‘Mentioning’ them by typing the @ symbol. A list of your friends will dropdown and you can select.
